Release Notes

New features and fixes
  • If file encoding was not automatically detected it was previously defaulting to UTF8. In this version if Encoding is not detected, it will be reported as File Open Error and no changes will be written to the file.
  • Option to show detected file encoding in GUI
  • Added Digital Signature to fnr.exe. Currenly if you download and open fnr.exe in Windows 8, you may get SmartScreen warning that "Windows SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized application from starting". Adding digital signature should prevent this screen from coming up when enough people report that this application is useful and doesn't cause harm to your PC.

For flags --defaultEncodingIfNotDetected and --alwaysUseEncoding you can use any encoding listed in the following web page. Just scroll down to example results and look for values in column 'identifier and name':

Excellent program! I've searched for this type of application for many years and have tried a few "free" programs that only want to end up charging you later. This is perfect finding and replacing multiple instances of a given line of text quickly and easily. Chris

I love this tool. I was searching for something similar for fixing up 000's of HTML files on a project which had incorrect paths to Logos - this is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Can I suggest a couple of new features?. 1. When you display the FIND, could you have a "select " check box column in the RESULTS grid to check if you want the item replaced. Please also add a button to "SELECT ALL". Once done, we can click the REPLACE - this provides a bulk review method before updating the files. 2. It would be nice to see the time taken to process a Search & Replace in Hours-minutes-seconds for each run.

Perfect, far better than any of the stuff on CNET or BrotherSoft.

Worked perfectly for what I needed (changed the namespaces for an entire solution). Thank you!
