Remove string and replace with nothing

Aug 17, 2016 at 8:20 PM
I have a bunch of files from which I want to remove certain strings.

Examples:
1-0967546-87DPI.gif
307-2035767915-87DPI.gif

Now, I want to rename my files in two steps:
step 1:
remove all -87DPI and replace with nothing
example:
after this step, 307-2035767915-87DPI.gif would be 307-2035767915.gif

step 2:
remove the hyphen to the left and everything to the left of that hyphen.
example:
307-2035767915.gif would finally become 2035767915.gif

I went ahead and put -87DPI in the "Find" field --> checked "Skip binary file detection"--> put nothing in the "Replace" field---> then clicked "Replace".
Result:
My files were not renamed.

Am I doing this right, or how should I remove these strings, thank you in advance?
